Can you keep clicking this thread please to keep it in the "trending content" list, because it saves scrolling past 1934856837217127347568776978 inane one-liners and so it is a lot easier to find?

I was a painter with a turbulent mind,
My art is famous, though my troubles were kind.
I lost a part of myself, but still I create,
My works are celebrated, both early and late.
Who am I, with a story so clear,
Known famously as Two Ears, my dear?

:eek::oops::eek:
Was it Vincent who lost his ear and the Love of his Life?

Apparently, Vincent only hacked off the fleshy part of his ear lobe and not the entire ear. A complex character who lived an interesting life plagued with mental health issues and which concluded with him taking his own life. Even today, people not even remotely interested in art, can recognize some of his more famous works and know who painted it.

I have more than likely walked right past the museum, but never actually thought to visit.

Probably because I was very grumpy after being kept awake all night by a couple next door on the ferry pissed as a fart stomping around like a herd of elephants, in-between constant bickering, playing tinny 'trance' music and occasional loud grunting noises.

All facking night.

I can't even say I am much of an art enthusiast, but I do recognize how he beautifully expressed his emotions and inner turmoil via his paintings. :)

I fell head over heels in love with the science museum in London as a kid. I still pop in while in London for a look round.
For a while tate Britain was my fav....... never out the place.

The pandemic produced some interesting pieces.

After an extensive internet search, I managed to find an image.

The location depicted in Vermeer's "The Little Street" painting has been identified as Vlamingstraat, specifically at present-day numbers 40 and 42 in Delft, according to a research article from The Guardian and an article from Google Arts & Culture. This narrow canal-side street was identified through detailed research by Professor Frans Grijzenhout of the University of Amsterdam.

Antiques Roadshow on the BBC is an institution in the UK, Ingrid, and we absolutely love our history and antiques, as I am sure you do over there. Art, furniture etc and finding an undiscovered painting by a Dutch master is the holy grail alongside Fabergé eggs. What I do find fascinating though is the lengths forgers will go to mimic Master's. From sourcing the age appropriate canvas and frames to natural pigment in the paint etc. They are so damn good that they even fool the experts and after spending literally years studying the Master's style, brushwork etc and almost perfecting it. :)

Happy second Pinksterday Kevin, yes I love old "Things" I have a lot... 3 very old closets, and more.. I am going to redecorate my 2 old chairs.. I hate fakes and forgers making money from someone elses work.
When I one day go to London I want to visit some flee markets.. This night first i have seen the Strawberry Moon it was beautiful pink/red.. Now its raining hard and thunder and lightning great weather to sit up in the halfdark and listening to it and watching the lightning counting until the thunder the last one was very hard..

Happy Whit Monday, Ingrid!

Yes, old furniture has so much more character and is more robust and solidly built compared to mass-produced modern equivalents. You will be spoiled for choice if you visit the flea markets in London, just make sure you set aside enough time to have a thorough rummage and hopefully unearth a hidden treasure you can enjoy back at home.

Try and make your visit sooner rather than later because unfortunately, as gentrification expands it relentless march across the city, traditional markets and the like are at serious threat due to rent increases and changing demographics due to urban development, etc.

The Strawberry Moon sounds delightful and apparently will be best seen in the UK on the 10-11th, I will keep my eyes peeled!

Father's old writing desk which for some reason I ended up with. I think it's Edwardian, full of old ink stains and scratches from a century of use.
